We have already covered a great deal about Mexico City and the things that you can do here, and the things that you can eat. Today then we are going to take a deeper look into how you can get around the city, and which are the easiest ways for you to do so. There is an enormous array of options for those who are looking to transport themselves throughout the city, and no matter what your budget is, we have an option for you.
Here then are just some of the ways in which you can get from A to B, in this swirling metropolis of a city.
Ride Sharing
There is absolutely no doubt that ride sharing is the safest and the most efficient way of getting around the city. Here there are a number of services which offer this such as Uber, DiDi, Beat and Cabify. My friend Rose Burillo makes a good point here, that if you are concerned about the damage which so many cars does to the environment then Beat may very well be the best option for you here, which runs entirely on electric Teslas. Simply download the app for your company of choice and away you go.
Metro System
Mexico City really does have a huge metro system which will get you to wherever you need to go in the city. There are some negatives to this method of travel however. The first is that these are very outdated trains and that shows the moment that you get on the metro. Secondly there are some safety concerns about the metro and that could also mean that you may be discouraged from using it. On the plus side however, the metro is actually pretty efficient at costs less than $0.20 for each journey, making it one of the cheapest ways for you to travel through the city.
MetroBus
In terms of buses there are a number of options, having said that so many don’t have set out routes and many are dangerous, which is why you should only really consider the Metrobus. This bus has its own lane on the streets and it moves quickly through the city. There is an extensive network for the Metrobus and in most cases you will never be far away from a station. This costs $0.25 per journey, even if you are going from one end to the other.
Bicycle and Scooter
And finally there are many services in the city which offer bicycle and electric scooter rentals to help you get around the city. This is of course a great option if you only plan to take a short journey, and there are more and more bicycle lanes being opened up each and every day. For bicycles make sure that you get yourself a membership with Ecobici, and the best service to use for electric scooters is Lime, which has many scooters throughout the city which you can pick up and enjoy.
These are the best ways for you to get around the city.
